Rachel McAdams To Star in True Detective’ Season 2

True Detective welcomes more high profile detectives on the case.

HBO finally announced that Rachel McAdams and Taylor Kitsch will join Colin Farrell and McAdams's Wedding Crashers costar Vince Vaughn in popular drama.

HBO issued a statement that says the second season of its hit anthology series will revolve on the lives of three police officers to be portrayed by McAdams, Kitsch and Farrell and a career criminal (played by Vince Vaughn) as he attempts to steer conspiracies after a murder.

HBO revealed that Kitsch's role will be the seasoned California Highway Patrol officer Paul Woodrugh, a veteran and California Highway Patrol motorcycle officer, who has been described as a person who is trying to escape his "difficult past and the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened," the network added in a press release.

Meanwhile, McAdams will play the role of Ani Bezzerides, an officer for the Ventura County Sheriff's Department whose penchant living up her standards and ethics placed "her at odds with others and the system she serves."

Kelly Reilly will also join the cast as Vince Vaughn's D-list actress wife.

Vince Vaughn's character, Semyon has been described as "a criminal and entrepreneur in danger of losing his empire when his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner."

In an interview with AdWeek last month, Kitsch did not contain his excitement over her new role.

"I've just been prepping. It's been almost a full year since I've been on camera, so I'm itching, man," he said.

"I'm overdue."

Production of True Detective Season 2 has already started in California.

True Detective's second season is written and created by Nic Pizzolatto. Unlike season one, which was directed all throughout by Cary Joji Fukunaga, the second second will see different directors for each season.
