It was filmmaker, Brett Morgen who spends 6 years in collecting the materials he needed for the HBO documentary. He also sorted out all the right issues and access to all the personal belongings and artistic materials of Cobain. However, Cobain's final 48 hours and the gun that ended his life will not be part of the 2hour documentary titled, "Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck".

Cobain's death headlined the news on April 1994 at the age 27. His death surprised his fans and the people in the music industry. His death is considered a great loss in the industry.

The documentary is not yet complete but it was scheduled to release next year on HBO. Universal International Pictures Entertainment will be the one distributing the documentary in the international markets, both for television licensing and theatrical release.

Morgen told Variety that the documentary will feature Cobain's works such as his Super-8 movies, spoken word poetry, sculptures, and photography and sound design masterpieces. All those works had been stored in boxes for many years and it is good to know that the world will finally see his work of art.

The family of Cobain, his widow and former vocalist of the band, Hole, Courtney Love, his daughter, Frances Bean Cobain and his mother, Wendy O'Connor helped Morgen to make the documentary possible. It was in 2007 when Love showed Morgen the works of Cobain and that was the time he thought of doing a film about his works. Morgen works closely with Frances Bean, a visual artist and also the executive producer of the documentary. Niravana's former band members, Dave Grohl and Krist Novoselic and the ruler of Nirvana catalog, Universal Music allowed Morgen to use Nirvana's music.

This HBO documentary will introduce Cobain's works to the world and a tribute to the creative artist of our time.

As for Morgen, he was known for his documentary for 2012 Rolling Stones Documentary "Crossfire Hurricane".
