Richard Sherman and A Doug Baldwin Cardboard Cut Out Blast the NFL's Hypocrisy

Cornerback Richard Sherman and wide receiver Doug Baldwin of the National Football League's (NFL) Seattle Seahawks are two more players who have mocked a press conference.

They follow the footsteps of teammate, running back Marshawn Lynch.

Lynch was most recently fined US $100,000 by the NFL for not speaking directly to the media. When they visited him in his locker room, Lynch answered their questions with non-related answers; from his favourite rap artists to his shoes.

After the fine, Lynch would learn his lesson somewhat and begin answering the media, albeit in one word answers only.

Enter Sherman who was joined by his teammate, Baldwin, in cardboard cut-out form. They took to the stage on Tuesday and faced the media as well.

Once there, the two men blasted NFL for institutional hypocrisy and pumped up their sponsors.

The strange scene involved Sherman talking to ta the cardboard Baldwin as the wide receiver crouched behind it. What they delivered was a pre-planned talk on the NFL's hypocritical policies on a range of topics.

Apart from that, they touched on teammate Lynch's own predicament in failing to speak with the media, and how the NFL was putting their own sponsorship interests first.

"You know, the other day, the league fined Marshawn Lynch $100,000," Sherman said. "$100,000. And it's like, they wouldn't have even paid him $100,000 if he had talked. ... Doug, do you think they would have paid him $100,000?"

"Nope, they sure wouldn't have," Baldwin said.

"But you know who does pay me a lot of money? Beats by Dre, the wonderful headphones I wear," Sherman said. "But the league doesn't let me say anything about them. Doug, why is that?"

"I don't know," Baldwin said. "Sounds, uh, sounds kind of hypocritical to me."

Sherman ended the press conference by saying that this is exactly how the NFL wants players to conduct themselves in media situations.

It was an entertaining and controversial debacle, and for sure will not be the last.
