Former Model B. Smith Found Safe in Manhattan Cafe After Going Missing

Former model B. Smith, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, was found Wednesday in a Manhattan café.

The model-turned-entrepreneur was believed to have vanished after she boarded a jitney on her way to the Hamptons, New York Daily News reports.

Smith was eventually found together with an unknown woman at the La Parisienne Coffee House on 7th Ave. near 57th St., sources to Daily News revealed.

"She was here with an older woman," the café's waiter told Daily News.

She also revealed that the two were patrons of the restaurant and she didn't notice anything bizarre about the ex-model's behavior.

It was not, however, known where she slept that night and how she looked like after her ordeal.

The old woman who was also remained a mystery.

Smith's distressed husband, Dan Gasby, said that she was last been seen around 8 p.m. Tuesday in Southampton.

The 65-year-old was one of the first African-American models to be on the cover of Mademoiselle and later became a successful New York restaurateur.

She revealed this past summer that she was battling Alzheimer's disease.

According to reports, Smith's daughter asked the jitney driver about her mom after the worried daughter learned that she did not arrive in Sag Harbor on time.

The driver told her that Smith had already gotten off the bus in Southampton.

Gasby then reported her missing.

After learning her diagnosis, Smith said in an interview with CBS that her condition is something that "meant something bad, something really bad for me," E Online reports.

She even had no idea what day or month or year it was when asked on camera.

"Things like that make me feel very sad," she admitted.

The model-actress launched her first restaurant in 1986. She has since then penned a series of cookbook.

Despite her condition, she still remains hopeful that she would continue to live a full life for as long as possible.
