New York Times revealed James' journey as she gradually rose to fame, as the world began to recognize the extraordinary character of her works, having earned numerous awards for a total of 18 crime novels published in a span of 50 years. Some of her mystery novels were brought to life in a public TV program, "Mystery," which was aired in the United States and Britain.

Ms. James books differ from the rest of mystery and detective works of other authors because of the complexity of the story line, particularly in establishing the psychological make-up of the character. The intensity of her views on criminal violence, of real tragedies, of murder, bloodshed and death does not diminish as she transfers it into the minds of her lead characters in the novel.

Born in Oxford on Aug. 3, 1920, Ms. James had the feeling that she would be a writer at a young age of 16, particularly about crimes and mysterious deaths which capture her interests the most.

She shared in New York Times that when she first heard about the poem, "Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall..." she immediately thought about the cause, whether Humpty Dumpty had fallen accidentally or somebody or something pushed him.

The Second World War interrupted Ms. James' pursuit of writing career.  She was a Red Cross nurse and married a medical student with whom she had two daughters. When her husband came back from the war, injured and suffering from mental disability, she seeks employment at the National Health Service while taking a course in hospital administration.

Despite the difficulties she encountered in her lifetime, Ms. James had written her first novel, "Cover Her Face," which took her almost three years to finish and was published in 1962 in Britain. Several works of great value followed and the last one is entitled, "Death Comes to Pemberley" in 2011.
