Rohinni, an Idaho-based company, introduces what their company is all about in one simple sentence: "We print light."

The company has introduced the world's thinnest LED lights. It claims its product can be applied to nearly any surface, in any shape and for any situation.

LightPaper is a paper-thin light-emitting square. Whenever a charge is sent through the LightPaper, the material lights up.

Nick Smoot, Rohinni chief marketing officer, said the best way to describe LightPaper is that it's a mix of LEDs and ink. It uses a proprietary process to print a solution on a substrate.

One source said the process mixes ink and tiny LEDs together and then prints them on a conductive layer.  The object is then sandwiched between two other layers and sealed. Experts said the potential of this application is endless.

Smoot said Rohinni was thinking about printing lamp shades. However, their lamps wouldn't need to have their bulbs changed since the shade itself would be the light source.

"Anywhere there is a light, this could replace that."

He also said that eventually people will be able to print and design their own lights at home.

"Right now we are printing the light, but we are going to be putting that back in the hands of the people."

In their company website, they give illustrated examples of how their new light source could be applied.

It's certainly varied; anywhere from illuminating logos on products, installing lighting on your wall or even a wearable wristband that flashes the time and message notifications.

"With Lightpaper it's more of a platform of light that we don't even know how it's going to be used," said Smoot. "All we know is that we're trying to unlock the ability to create light."
