Sir Paul McCartney shared that he is glad he made peace with John Lennon before he passed away in 1980 at the young age of 40.

The Beatles, which also included Ringo Starr and George Harrison, enjoyed incredible worldwide success. However, the band members decided to go their separate ways in 1970 due to internal conflicts and creative differences.

McCartney shared that their decision to split was mainly a "big business thing" that went "very sour". However, he also stated that they soon grew tired of all the conflict, and decided to get friendly again. He said that they were able to reconnect, and relate because during the time they became friends again, both of them had become young fathers.

''You could talk about normal stuff so it got very nice and I said, to this day, I'm so glad because it would have been the worst thing in the world to have this great relationship that then soured and he gets killed, so there was some solace in the fact that we got back together," the iconic musician shared.

He shared that they were very good friends, and that he had a very hard time comprehending and accepting Lennon's death.

Lennon was killed by Mark David Chapman, a madman who simply wanted fame. Chapman shot Lennon four times in the back.

McCartney shared that there was no reason for the killing - it wasn't even politically motivated. It was simply a random act.

Appearing in "The Jonathan Ross Show," McCartney said the realization that he was never going to see or talk to his friend had hit him hard. He also admitted that when it came to the man who had taken the life of his good friend, he couldn't think of any thought except he was "The jerk of all jerks".
