Denzel Washington's character sees the girl get slapped and taken away by thugs. He then decides to run after the villains to save the girl. He makes a mess with the thugs using only his bare hands. Little did he know at the time that the girl's abductors are members of the Russian mob.

Washington plays the role of Robert McCall, a former black ops commando who faked his death in order to live a quiet life in Boston.

He is taken out of retirement after witnessing a young girl named Teri, played by Chloë Grace Moretz, who gets kidnapped by Russian thugs.

Sony released The Equalizer's first trailer showing Denzel Washington in all Denzel-like fashion. The Denzel charm is there, the way he speaks in most of his films and the oft unexpected fighting skills common in his action films. In other words, it's a Denzel Washington movie.

Washington, 59, reunites with Director Antoine Fuqua after the two worked together in 'Training Day' side-by-side Ethan Hawke. In this movie, Washington played the role of a crooked cop who was tasked to look after rookie Hawke.

Washington's stellar performance in Training Day won him an Oscar. Now, Washington and Fuqua are back together to make a simple story plot a mesmerizing movie experience.

However, Washington acknowledges that there's nothing fancy about the movie's storyline, except that it's a cult classic.

The Equalizer is based on the 1980s CBS TV classic of the same name. The TV series was starred by Edward Woodward, and ran for four seasons from 1985 to 1989.

The Equalizer became an instant cult classic and is best remembered for the tag line: Odds against you? Need Help? Call the Equalizer."

The movie will be shown in theaters on September 26.
