In the Silver Age of Marvel, Matt Murdoch is as American as Captain America and speaks in a distinctive New York City accent.

Well, the second actor Hollywood's decided to cast as Daredevil, The Man Without Fear, was born in London; is as British as treacle and will have to pull off an East Coast accent to fool us into believing he's Matt Murdoch.

The new Daredevil's a Brit named Charlie Cox. Charlie who?

That's the knee jerk reaction most everyone has on reading the news this guy will take off from where Ben Affleck left off.

Probably the only creatures familiar with Charlie Cox will be fans of Boardwalk Empire where Charlie plays Owen Sleater, an Irishman with ties to the Irish Republican Army. He's even guested on Downton Abbey. Charlie began his acting career in 2002.

The rest of us are going to have to learn more about Charlie real fast since Marvel/Netflix has hired him to play the horned superhero for 13 episodes in the upcoming Netflix series, Daredevil. Charlie's new to both Marvel and the fantasy/adventure genre that is big in the US box office.

Without doubt, Netflix is expanding its media reach far and wide and has four upcoming series, including TV shows about Luke Cage, Jessica Jones and Iron Fist.

At this point, there's not much Americans know about the new Man Without Fear. Let's hope he does a lot better than Ben Affleck at being more memorable.

Marvel and Netflix have declined to comment on Cox's casting.
