Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has finally announced on his Twitter account the new game series to be called as “Mortal Kombat X”.

Along with the announcement of the new game, the first trailer of Mortal Kombat X has also been released. The game features a battle between Scorpion and Sub Zero who were long-time rivals.

Wiz Khalifa’s song “Can’t be Stopped” is also featured in the Mortal Kombat X trailer.

Mortal Kombat X’s co-creator Ed Boon and Wiz Khalifa’s Twitter exchange said that on June 2, Kombat Kontinues.

Boon has been teasing the release of the new game series to Mortal Kombat fans in the past weeks. The release of the game started with a countdown on Twitter following Mortal Kombat X’s logo made public.

Mortal Kombat X would be fuelled using next generation technology, according to the game’s official description. It is a combination of supreme cinematic presentation with a lively game play to establish a Kombat experience beyond compare.

According to a review from PopCulture, the new game series would look pretty good on the current generation of game consoles. Mortal Kombat X would be released on Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, PS3 and PC in 2015. It would also be shown during the E3 gaming expo next week.

Players of the new game series would be able to select multiple versions of the Mortal Kombat X character. This would impact the character’s fighting styles and moves.

Meanwhile, the Mortal Kombat X game was rumored to have been produced by legend Lance Sloane. The upcoming game was also rumored to have the participation of Keifer Sutherland. Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment arm, NetherRealm Studios, was said to have developed the game.

Mortal Kombat X is the reboot of the 2011 series which game enthusiasts predict to hit a critical and commercial success. The newly released trailer requires strong parental supervision as did other Mortal Kombat trailers.
