BlackBerry is returning to its roots with a new phone that features a traditional keyboard at a time when everybody is embracing touch screen gadgets from Apple and Samsung.

The newly unveiled BlackBerry Classic features a keyboard hearkening back to the old days of cell phones. It's a little like 'Back to the Future'.

The new BlackBerry features a 3.5-inch touchscreen, which is very small by today's standards. It features their trademark keyboard with 40 keys. It's very much in line with the traditional product everybody knows.

Blackberry Classic comes with 16 GB internal storage and an 8 megapixels camera. Blackberry proudly added that users can enjoy up to 22 hours of battery life.

With the Classic, BlackBerry wants to focus on its main customers: the business users. Conventional BlackBerry users always prefer the physical keyboard because they find it easier than touchscreens to type with.

"It's going to be a niche product based around enterprise, based around security and pockets of the world where there is still strengths. The future of this company is not the hardware," said BGC analyst Colin Gillis.

The tech company tries to stay relevant in developing hardware while at the same time trying to convert into an enterprise security and consumer software company. It's not yet clear whether the Classic will sell enough to keep BlackBerry in the hardware business.

There will be some diehard BlackBerry users out there who will stay loyal to this device.
