An oral health museum has been set to open its doors to the public in October. The oral health education museum would open in October just beside the West China Hospital of Stomatology located in Sichuan’s Chengdu.

The museum official Fu Tianxing said that the oral health museum is the first of its kind to open in the country. The museum would be situated in a 1936 ancestral building and would have a 1,000 square meters exhibit area.

Fu said that the move to establish the oral health museum was for the West China Hospital of Stomatology and the city government to educate people regarding the importance of oral health as well as to protect the culture of Chengdu city by utilizing a traditional-styled building.

The locals in Chengdu along with the people of the entire Sichuan Province have been very proud with the West China Medical Center of Sichuan University’s affiliate, the West China School and Hospital of Stomatology.

The official records show that the hospital has ranked the second biggest in the world. It has a total of 4,800 beds with service area of than 400,000 square meters.

The hospital is also a medical treatment center in western China for cases of oral infections and maxillofacial surgery. It has also been considered as the birthplace of China’s modern dentistry. Furthermore, the hospital has also been ranked among the top hospitals in the field of dentistry.

On the other hand, the school published the first English journal about dental science in the country in 2008. The International Journal of Oral Science included a record for Pub Med as well as Science Citation Index Expanded.

The West China Medical Center has other affiliations with the best hospitals in China. The hospital is ranked second in China’s Best Hospitals list, yearly released by Fudan University with Peking Union Medical College Hospital taking the lead.
