Yelling "This is the start of a revolution!" a young woman and a man shot dead two Las Vegas policemen inside a pizza restaurant as a prelude to a deadly rampage that eventually left five persons dead.

The shooters, still unidentified, then headed for a nearby Walmart branch where they killed another victim in the store before committing suicide. No motive for the deadly attack has been revealed.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department identified the slain police officers as Alyn Beck, 42, and Igor Soldo, 32. The slain policemen were assigned to the Northeast Area Command.

Metro said both police officers were shot and killed by a man and a woman who approached them as they ate lunch at a CiCi's Pizza on Nellis Boulevard at about 11:20 a.m., Sunday.

A police official said Soldo was refilling a soft-drink when the female shooter approached him from behind and shot him in the head, killing him instantly. The woman and her male companion then shot Beck as he went for his pistol. Beck later died at a hospital from his wounds.

Witnesses told police one of the shooters yelled "This is the start of a revolution" before shooting the officers.

The shooters then took the officers' pistols and ammunition and headed to the Walmart branch at  North Nellis. Witnesses then reported hearing shots fired in quick succession inside Walmart.

Police said a woman at Walmart was shot and killed. The victim has not been identified.

Metro officers stormed the Walmart branch and exchanged gunfire with the shooters. The female shooter shot and wounded her accomplice. She then shot herself in the head. The man later shot and killed himself.

Metro had never before seen two officers killed in a single incident, said Sheriff Doug Gillespie, who called Sunday an "unprecedented day."

Gov. Brian Sandoval issued the following statement about the attack:

"I am devastated by the news today of two officers and an innocent bystander who were murdered in an act of senseless violence. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families. I am receiving regular updates with regard to this tragedy and local and state law enforcement are assisting at the scene."

Reports detailing the exact events in the fatal shootings inside the restaurant conflict with each other as police are still filling in the blanks.

The case is considered extremely complex as it involves more than 1,000 witnesses. Wal-Mart employees and shoppers were taken to a nearby clothing store to be interviewed after the incident, but it is unclear whether or not eyewitnesses from CiCi's have been held for questioning.

This is only one in a series of shootings to strike a nation harassed by gun-related violence. Most recently, a shooter opened fire at Seattle Pacific University, killing one before being disarmed by students.
