Hong Kong recording artist G.E.M. Tang is under fire once again after she showed up late for the annual Metro Radio Hits Music Awards last December 26, fueling rumors that the fame has gotten to her head and that she is behaving like a diva.

Tang, who became famous after winning the second season of the singing contest 'I Am a Singer', is recently being criticized for her alleged diva behavior and as of late, because of showing up tardily for the Metro Radio Hits Music Awards held in Hong Kong last Friday.

According to Hong Kong media reports, the singer is slated to make an appearance at the awards ceremony. However, that same day, she had a performance in Macau. Tang is said to have been scheduled to take a helicopter going to Hong Kong, but since the weather condition isn't good for flying, the singer had to take the ferry instead. Reports say that the young singer took six hours to reach the awards ceremony.

In addition, it has been reported that various singers and artists had been waiting for her arrival since she was supposed to perform an a cappella number during the awards. This has allegedly caused dissatisfaction on the part of the other artists as well as the viewers.

Furthermore, the number of audience during the event is said to have gone down by 30% after she took the stage to perform and receive her awards. The awards ceremony has also wrapped up at 12:30 AM, an hour later than expected. The media and the attending artists were initially scheduled to start the celebratory banquet at 1 AM, but since Tang was 45 minutes late, it had to be moved as well.

Despite that, the singer has been awarded with a total of four trophies including the accolade for the Singer of the Year.

Tang has later apologized profusely for being tardy. She said, "I didn't know, once the awards ceremony ended I went to touch up my makeup, pack up my things and came straight for the celebrations," and added that she did not know how she would make it to everyone who came.

Although she has apologized, some netizens pointed out that Tang has uploaded a photo of herself backstage with her trophies. Said photo allegedly had a time stamp which was the same with the time the celebratory banquet's supposed start time. This raised speculations that her statement might not be wholly true.
