There's no question that 2014 is a banner year for Emma Stone. With the colossal success of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (earning over US$700 million worldwide), a well-received Broadway debut as Sally Bowles in Cabaret, and a much-praised lip-syncer on The Tonight Show, who would have guessed that that the nascent actress would also be hailed as the top star on Forbes' annual list of Best Actors for the Buck?

According to Forbes' Dorothy Pomerantz, for every dollar paid for her recent movies, the film returned an average of US$61.45!

Slated to appear on two smaller movies and with her Spiderman character now dead, rumors are in that she might be the bet to give life to Wonder Woman although that would have to wait until after Marvel releases Captain Marvel in 2018.

Forbes considered the star's last three films where each actor starred in before June 2014, determining the film's budget, box-office gross and the star's salary to determine the return on investment. Similar formula was used in determining the list of overpaid actors.

Landing the second spot is professional wrestler-turned-movie celebrity Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, whose achieved considerable success at the box office with the Fast and the Furious franchise. For every dollar he got pain, his movies returned US$31.10.

On the third place is Thor and Avengers hunk Chris Hemsworth who returned US$30.70 for every US$1 paid unto him. The epic success of the second installment of Thor, out earned the first film by US$200 million and upset the poor performance of Rush.

Making it on the fourth spot is Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Lawrence who also ranks as the highest-grossing actress for 2014, thanks to her top-grossing movies, including The Hunger Games film series, X-Men franchise and American Hustle. For every dollar she's paid, Lawrence returned US$27.60.

Rounding up the top 5 is Fast and the Furious actor Vin Diesel. The strong box office receipt of the hit racing franchise enabled him to return US$26.40 for every dollar he earned.

6. Kristen Stewart - Returns US$24.90 for every US$1 paid.

7. George Clooney - Returns US$24.50 for every US$1 paid.

8. Russell Crowe - Returns US$23 for every US$1 paid.

9. Mark Wahlberg - Returns US$21.80 for every US$1 paid.

10. Christian Bale - Returns US$20.33 for every US$1 paid.
