Transgender Teen Writes Heartbreaking Note Before Committing Suicide

A transgender teen took her own life over the weekend when by walking in front of a tractor trailer, but she left behind a letter explaining her reasons for committing suicide.

The teenager was identified as Leelah Alcorn but was originally known as Josh Alcorn. Her death occurred at the Highway I-71 in Ohio. Although the Ohio Highway State Patrol has not released the official cause of death of the teenager, it is clear that it was suicide and officials continue to investigate the case.

The teenager blamed her parents for not allowing her to be herself and recalled how she started to view herself as a female when she was only four years old. She has posted the heartbreaking letter on her Tumblr account.

She noted that if anyone was reading the letter, it means she has committed suicide and that she failed to delete the post from her queue. However, she also said people should not feel sad because she was better off dead since her life as a transgender was no longer worth living.

Alcorn narrates that at the age of 14, she had learned what a transgender was and felt happy at the start. She said she had been confused for ten years and when she knew about her state, she immediately told it to her mother.

However, her mother said that it was just a phase she was going through and that she will never be truly a woman since God does not make mistakes.

"If you are reading this, parents, please don't tell this to your kids. Even if you are Christian or are against transgender people don't ever say that to someone, especially your kid," Alcorn cautioned parents who might have transgender kids. "That won't do anything but make them hate them self. That's exactly what it did to me."

Alcorn added that she was isolated for a few months and she was taken out of her school. She then realized after that she already had enough and decided to end her life.

She added that all the things she legally owns should be sold and the money that will be coming from it as well as those in her bank shall be given to transgender civil rights movements and support groups.

Her mother, Carla Wood Alcorn, posted a tribute to her son, still using her birth name, on her Facebook page. However, Carla did not mention anything about suicide. Also, a "Justice For Leelah Alcorn" was set up on Facebook to protect transgenders.
