The fire burned Beifangnanxun ceramics market's third floor at about 10 p.m. The collapsed wall buried the firemen who were on the building's second floor battling the blaze.

The first three floors of the building are commercial establishments, while the remaining eight are residential. Residents have been evacuated.

Of the 11 injured firemen who were rushed to the hospital, three are in critical condition.

On Saturday, Central China Television, the state broadcaster, reported the discovery of the bodies of two firefighters, bringing the total fatality to five, which could mean one of the injured firemen have also died.

According to a blog on Sina Weibo by the Harbin Communist Party, a security guard was also injured in the fire.

Also on Friday, a scaffold collapsed in Hunan Province in Central China, trapping 11 workers on a rooftop. The workers were finishing construction on a machine repair workshop of a non-ferrous metal company in Chenzhou City.

Rescue is still underway, but five workers already rescued have been immediately transported to a hospital.
