Brad Pitt, who presented the award for Breakthrough Performance Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival awards Gala steals the show by leading the A-list audience into a singalong in honor of his awardee, David Oyelowo.

Oyelowo, who received the award for his role as the civic rights leader, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the Oscar-hopeful, Selma, was welcomed onto the stage after Pitt asked everyone in the audience to learn how to pronounce the actor's name correctly.

His method, while certainly not traditional, was definitely entertaining.

"In situations like this, I find it sometimes helps to sing it. So...if you will sing it with me now, repeat after me," he says, before clearing his throat and breaking into song to the tune of the popular football chant, "Ole, Ole, Ole."

Oyelowo takes the stage from Pitt bearing a wide smile and after a big hug from his friend and colleage says, "you know you have broken through when Brad Pitt sings your name."

The Palm Springs International Film Festival happens in Palm Springs California and typically marks the start of the new year's award season. Following this gala are the Golden Globes, which is scheduled to take place on January 11 and the Academy Awards. Nominations for the latter are set to be announced on January 15 while the ceremony is set for February 22.

Pitt was a recipient of the prestigious Oscar award himself last year, which he shared with the cast and team of 12 Years a Slave, after it won Best Picture. He served as the film's executive producer.

This year, Oyelowo's film is another Oscaro-hopeful and is currently nominated for four Golden Globe Awards. Oyelowo receives a nod for his performance for the Globes as well.
