Li Bingbing in Transformers 4

It's just 11 days to the 27th when "Transformers: Age of Extinction" will hit the big screen, and Chinese actress Li Bingbing is keeping her fingers crossed to see if the effort she poured into the Hollywood film will be vindicated by a big turnout at the box office.

The famous Chinese actress, who has had several Hollywood outings including "The Forbidden Kingdom" and "Resident Evil," admits that Transformers 4 was quite a challenge to do.

For starters, she said her English wasn't at par with that of a native speaker and she had to work hard at memorizing her lines through each revision of the screenplay in order to deliver them flawlessly.

"My English is not excellent, but I had to present myself as an excellent English speaker," Li said in a recent promotional interview. "I really had to memorize my dialogue well but the script was always changing. The experience was really a lot more difficult than I originally thought."

Li plays the role of Su Yueming, the CEO of a Transformer manufacturing company and the mother of Transformers in this action thriller.  Her original name in the script was Liao Xiumei but she had it changed because she said it sounded "weird."

Li said she almost cried when she saw how ugly she looked in the first set of  photos of the characters shown to them, and she had to hire her own stylist o fix the design and style of her outfit.

"Transformers: Age of Extinction", a China-Hollywood joint production, is the fourth installment in the Transformers film series and is one of the most anticipated films in China.

One third of the story is set in China and a full 30-minute sequence of the film was shot in Hong Kong beginning last October.

Directed by Michael Bay from the script written by Ehren Kruger, Transformers 4 stars Mark Wahlberg, Kelsey Grammar, Nicola Peltz, Stanley Tucci, Jack Reynor, and a host of Chinese artists who ably contributed their talents to the making of another blockbuster.
