The creators of Breaking Bad, Peter Gould and Vince Gilligan, recently announced that the beloved lead characters in their hit TV show will not be appearing in the prequel entitled Better Call Saul which will begin airing on AMC this coming February.

Better Call Saul is set six years before the events on Breaking Bad occurred which means that there is a possibility for Walter White and Jesse Pinkman to appear during Better Call Sauls later seasons.

Gilligan and Gould said that they wanted Better Call Saul to stand alone and not hide in the shadows of its hit predecessor Breaking Bad. "I did tell everyone in the team that if this show starts to feel like a stunt then that means that those of us in the writers room have done something wrong" Gould said in a statement during a press conference.

The new series, that will be airing on February 8th will have its second episode are the very next day. Gilligan explained that the decision, to not wait a week for the second episode is due to the commercial success of the shows predecessor and also because it is among one of the most anticipated shows of the year.

The creative partners also explained that unlike Breaking bad which was filmed using hand-held cameras, the camera work for their new show will be more fixed and movie like.

Bob Odenrick will reprise his role of Saul while Jonathan Burks will return as fixer Mike Ehrmantraut.
