The Affair, Transparent Won Top Golden Globe Honors For TV: Here's the Complete List of TV Winners

"The Affair" and "Transparent," two brand new TV series, were suddenly placed in the spotlight as they bagged the top TV honors for drama and comedy at the 72nd Golden Globe Awards.

Amazon.com Inc's "Transparent" became the first ever online streaming series to bring home the best comedy series. The show, which focuses on the life of a transgender woman who decides to tell her three adult children about her real sexuality, defeated award favorites Orange is the New Black and Silicon Valley.

In the drama category, meanwhile, Showtime's "The Affair," which tells the extramarital relationship of two couples after meeting in a resort town, triumphed over the likes of Downton Abbey and Game of Thrones, to win the best drama series.

The Affair's Ruth Wilson won the best drama actress for her performance as the young waitress trying to piece her life and marriage back together, won the best drama actress for TV. Two-time Oscar winner Kevin Spacey, meanwhile, scorred his first Golden Globe win for best drama actor for his role in House of Cards.

Gina Rodriguez won the best comedy actress for her eponymous role as the industrious and religious Latin who vows to keep her virgnity in Jane the Virgin. Jeffrey Tambor grabbed the Golden Globe for best comedy/musical actor as the retired professor who confessed that he used to be a woman.
