Cho took to Twitter her reaction against critics who labeled her Golden Globes gag as racist.

The comedian was seen dressed up as an unyielding North Korean journalist and appeared throughout the show, together with the hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

While Cho's performance draw audience to laugh, however, her portrayal of Cho Young-ja, a fictional North Korean member of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, got the ire of others.

Cho's character was seen making gauche conversations between Poehler and Fey ceremony.

However, Cho claimed that her performance was just an act of free speech, a theme that has been so emphasized throughout the awards' duration.

Cho was indignant that her performance was not racist and she has supporters on Twitter to back her.

"I'm of mixed North/South Korean descent - you imprison, starve and brainwash my people, you get made fun of by me," Cho tweeted.

"I'm not playing the race card. I'm playing the rice card. #hatersgonwait #winnersgonpun," she continued.

A staunch advocate of LGBT right, Cho was seen playing the role of North Korean leader Kim Jong Il in three episodes of 30 Rock.  Cho has been featured on such films as It's My Party and Face/Off.
