the glory days of the starbury shoeline

Back in 2006 NBA player Stephon Marbury of the New York Knicks took on the initiative of creating shoes that were affordable yet had the same standards as that of the leading shoe brands. His partnership with Steve & Barry's promoted the shoe and clothing line named after him, called "Starbury" - pairs were sold at just $14.98.

This year Soul to Sole co-creator Lori Campana admits to being inspired by Marbury's efforts in making inexpensive shoes. She and her sister-in-law Laurie Bove took the project of donating 700 pairs of shoes to the Lorain County Boys and Girls Clubs for the summer.

The cause of this non-profit organization has been active in helping the children, providing them a pair that they can easily use without having problems of shoes being too big or too worn out. And this happens all year round not just in the summer season, with the group taking initiative in providing for the children even during spring, fall and winter time.

For kids who get involved with sports that have special shoe needs like football, soccer or even baseball, they are also given the opportunity to be fitted with Soul to Sole taking care of giving them the pair that they need.

It seems like Marbury's inspiration to Campana and Bove's cause has definitely come a long way with their organization also getting into an annual fundraiser called Sprint or Stroll for Soul to Sole.
