The executives at the LG Electronics Inc., as well as the company's investors, have something to be happy about: the shares of the South-Korean based company have seen a dramatic increase in value so far this year. Share prices of the consumer electronics developer, according to Reuters, have already risen nearly 5 percent in the first half of January alone.

There are several reasons as to why this has happened and one of these is the fact that LG Electronics Inc. has shown power in terms of its television offerings, having been the first to introduce the use of OLED technology.

While the OLED TVs that LG released and launched last year have already made consumers really excited, the TV and smartphone manufacturer made them look forward to this year even more as they made an announcement of its new line up of brand new televisions at CES 2015.

As Phone Arena cited, another reason for the increase in the South Korean consumer electronics company's share prices is the LG G3. The mobile device boosted the company's share in the mobile market by a whopping 8.9 percent. By the time that November 2014 rolled in, it was up to 16.3 percent.

It is quite known that the company used to be a somewhat poor performer in the industry, with Apple and Samsung being its competitors. However, with the share prices going up, consumers and investors are really looking forward to what LG will bring to them this 2015.

Consultant firm Kiwoom Securities have suggested to prospective clients that this trend is going to increase. According to the firm, they can expect a "steady growth on the back of improvements" in terms of the smartphone sector.
