Jennifer Aniston neither feels offended nor bitter after the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences failed to nominate her in the best actress category for her emotionally-stirring performance in the movie Cake.

Aniston received a barrage of messages, consoling her for the snub while slamming the academy for not including her on the shortlist.

"It's almost just as good to be number one snubbed than to be nominated," she said, clearly indicating that she wasn't hurting over that.

"'I was amazed at how many messages of 'Shocked!' 'F*** 'em!' and 'Robbed!' I got," the former Friends star said.

The actress was thankful and thought it was "endearing and flattering" to have a lot of people wanting her to get the nomination.

While Aniston has been nominated for best actress at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors' Guild Awards, she was, however, snubbed at this year's Academy Awards.

Julianne Moore, Reese Witherspoon, Marion Cotillard, Felicity Jones and Rosamund Pike are the nominees for this year's honor.

Some of the best actress nominees sent Aniston heartfelt messages. She said Reese Witherspoon sent her "such a sweet email, as did Julianne.

Aniston went on to say that they were "all amazing women, but you know, we're all rooting for each other and it doesn't take away the work that was done. So it's really, really nice."

Cake tells the story of a strong-willed woman who had a premonition of a woman suffering from chronic-pain and ended up committing suicide.

Aniston revealed that she accepted her role in Cake to see where her craft as an actress would take her.

"I needed to do it so I could prove to myself that I was able to do it," she said.

"It's something I hadn't done before -  to take on such a wonderfully layered, complex character.''
