Lindsay Lohan was sick with chikungunya that's why she was rushed to a hospital in London for treatment.

The beleaguered actress contracted the virus while having a holiday in Bora-Bora in the South Pacific following a two-month stint of the play Speed-the-Plow in London. TMZ revealed that Lohan already has the virus weeks before she got admitted in London.

"She could hardly stand up, she was in so much pain," a source close to the Mean Girls actress told Daily News Wednesday.

Lohan was complaining about high fever and joint pain before she was admitted to King Edward VII Hospital.

"She was getting better, but with all the traveling, it wore her down, so the virus acted up again. It was like a relapse," insider told Daily News.

Lohan already posted about the Chikungunya incident on social media.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention already issued a Chikungunya advisory to travelers going to French Polynesia. Over 51,100 cases have already been reported in the said group of islands since the epidemic began in October.

According to CDC, Chikungunya spreads through mosquito bites. Patients with this virus manifest fever, fatigue, joint and muscle pain, joint swelling, rash or headache. Chikungunya was initially discovered in the Caribbean islands in 2013. Chikungunya outbreak was eventually reported in Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Indian and Pacific oceans. No medication is yet available to treat this virus. The only ones available are pain relievers.

While most patients should feel better after one week, there are some, however, who would endure long-term joint pain.

Lohan, meanwhile, has been living in London since 2014 and has had a stint in West End, appearing on David Mamet's 1988 play Speed the Plow.
