The 48-year-old actress said in a recent interview with Hong Kong Media that the man she’s currently dating is not from the entertainment industry and that they have been seeing each other for “a very long time now”.

Asked by Sing Tao Daily in a separate interview, Gong was quick to point out that she is uncertain if indeed her new beau is her “Mr. Right”.

“I don’t know yet,” she said when pressed for an answer by the news outlet.

The Shenyang native failed to hide her excitement when asked if she would give marriage another chance. Gong was married to Singaporean businessman Ooi Hoe Seong but divorced him in 2010 after 14 years of marriage.

Malaysian Chronicle noted in its report that the film Gong is currently working on, Yimou’s “Coming Home”, has made a great impact on her view of love and romance.

"After finishing this movie, I've had more confidence in love. If it doesn't succeed, forget it, it's okay,” Gong was quoted as saying by Malaysian Chronicle, citing a report by Sing Tao Daily.

"Everyone needs emotion in his heart to live meaningfully - especially girls," she also said in a report by Whats On Xiamen. "No woman will want to have regrets in this life."

In “Coming Home,” Gong plays the character of Feng Wanyu, the wife of Lu Yanshi played by Chen Daoming. While the film's storyline centers on Lu Yanshi, Gong’s role is essential in the development of Yanshi’s character.

“Coming Home” is a historical romance, described by Vanity as “a family drama of guilt, love and reconciliation set during the aftermath of the Cultural Revolution.”

“The story proper begins after the end of the Cultural Revolution years later, when Lu is exonerated and discharged from a labor camp in the northwest. He returns to find Feng suffering from amnesia, probably caused by a head injury on the day of his re-arrest,” added Vanity Fair.

Produced by Le Vision Pictures and Edko Films, “Coming Home,” was released on May 16, 2014.
