Peng Shuai and Hsieh Su-wei are the current defending ladies doubles champions at Wimbledon and are currently ranked No. 1. They will see action Thursday and are pitted against the tandem of Darija Jurak of Croatia and American Megan Moulton-Levy.

Ladies singles No. 1 ranked American Serena Williams and sister Venus Williams saw action Wednesday against Georgian Oksana Kalashnikova and partner Ukrainian Olga Savchuk.

Venus won a singles match against Japan's Kurumi Nara which started off tough for her as she went the mile on the first set 7-6 before finishing her opponent off on the second set 6-1 at around mid-day and roughly six hours later, returned to the same court No. 3 along with Serena for their first round match.

The sisters lost the first set and trails 0-3 on the third set but the five-time Wimbledon champions found their bearings back and went on to win the match 5-7 6-1 6-4 in one hour and 55 minutes.

Second seed duo Italians Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci are runners-up to Peng and Hsieh in the recent French Open finals faced Serbia Jelena Jankovic and Russian Alisa Kleybanova.

Errani and Vinci proved to be unstoppable as they served better and won off of their first serves and defeated Jankovic and Kleybanova in two straight sets 6-2 6-2.

Jankovic is seeded No. 8 in the singles' division also lost early in the first round against Estonia's Kaia Kanepi Tuesday.

But the biggest upset of the day is third seed tandem Czech Kveta Peschke and Slovenian Katarina Srebotnik after losing their match to German Andrea Petkovic and partner Slovakian Magdalena Rybarikova in two straight sets 7-5 6-3.
