Stanford Kicks out Olympic Swimmer Caught Raping Unconscious Woman in Campus

After experiencing being on top of his sport when he competed in the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, 19-year-old Stanford student and swimmer Brock Allen Turner is now at the lowest point in his life.

Besides being kicked out by the prestigious university and barred from entering the campus, Turner is facing raping an unconscious person, raping an intoxicated person, sexual penetration with a foreign object and assault while attempting to commit rape charges, reports the New York Daily News.

He could face up to 10 years jail time if convicted. The athlete posted a US$150,000 bail.

Turner could have gotten away with the crime since his victim was intoxicated and unconscious. However, two passing cyclist saw Turner on top of the woman and sexually assaulting her along Lomita Court, a street in Palo Alto, California, which is part of the Stanford University campus.

The bikers stopped Turner who tried to run away from the crime scene, but they held him down and called the police, said Santa Clara Deputy District Attorney Alaleh Kianerci, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.

The victim, who is not a student at the university, was taken to a hospital and is now recovering. Turner actually met her at a party near the fraternity houses and campus housing.

Turner, who comes from Dayton, Ohio, last competed for Stanford in January 10 in a swim meet where he placed third in the 1,000-yard freestyle event and second in the 200-yard backstroke competition.

He was thrice the All-American high school swimmer in Dayton, which led to his being taken in by the Stanford University swim team which is the 10th best in the U.S., according to the Chronicle.
