The exclusive unveiling of HBO's Game of Thrones season 5 has been leaked.

Fans who attended Thursday's IMAX presentation of the series were given a sneak peek into the upcoming season, only to have fanboys (and girls) video the exclusive trailer and share it online. This inevitably led to the studio officially posting the actual version on its Facebook pages.

In the clip, series favorites including Daenerys Targaryen were prominently featured delivering threatening words, as was the underhandedly villainous Littlefinger. Cersei Lannister continues to lord it over her little brother Tyrion and Lord Varys teases the future of the throne-

"You could help another climb those steps and take that seat ... The Seven Kingdoms needs a ruler loved by millions with a powerful army and the right family name." 

"Good luck finding him," replies Tyrion. 

"Who said anything about him?" responds Varys. 

New sets, new characters, new plot twists await fans of the series, which is set to premiere on April 12, 2015.

Meanwhile, the creator of the books that the hit show is premised on, George RR Martin, has announced that literary fans of the series won't be seeing a new book out this year.

The release of the 6^th installment in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, entitled "The Winds of Winter", is tentatively expected to hit shelves in 2016 at the earliest.

According to the author's publisher, there are no plans to release a new novel this year, noting that fans should appreciate the level of work and dedication that is needed by Martin to create these fantastic worlds.

"I have no information on likely delivery. These are increasingly complex books and require immense amounts of concentration to write. Fans really ought to appreciate that the length of these monsters is equivalent to two or three novels by other writers," the publisher said.
