Girgor Dimitrov became the first ever Bulgarian to reach the men's quarterfinal rounds in the ongoing Wimbledon Championships at the All England Club in London.

The 11th seed Dimitrov, 23, eliminated Argentine Leonardo Mayer in three straight sets 6-4 7(8)-6(6) 6-2 that lasted two hours and nine minutes.

The rain interrupted the second set before resuming after almost two hours of heavy downpour. This gave Mayer a chance to tie-break but eventually losing the set with a double fault.

Dimitrov now faces defending Wimbledon champion Scottish Andy Murray in the quarterfinals.

"Sounds great," Dimitrov said after the match. "I don't want to stop here. I'm happy I'm in the quarter-final. Going to give credit to myself for that."

Dimitrov also said that he can last five sets with Murray and it would make him feel great but of course he would also like to defeat the defending champ in three straight sets.

"But I'm not playing a mediocre player so I need to be on my best behaviour and try to put every ball back," Dimitrov added.

The 3rd seed Andy Murray, 27, also defeated South African Kevin Anderson in three sets 6-4 6-3 7(8) 6(6).

Anderson, 28, stands 6-foot 8-inches and has a fierce service, and returning a serve with an average speed of 123MPH is an effort in itself. But Murray is known to be one of the best players who can return first services in the sport.

Being the defending champion releases the pressure of winning the crown and playing at home gives Murray more confidence.

"I think after winning it last year, the pressure of wanting to win definitely was finally released," Murray said after the game. "I had worked very hard for a long time in order to get myself into a position where I was able to win the championship. Obviously I'm still feeling the pressure and the nerves but this year, they are completely different."
