Since there is no winner of the US$380 million Powerball 33 lottery on Saturday, in the next draw on Wednesday, the jackpot would go up to US$450 million, estimates Sue Dooley, senior drawing manager of Multi-State Lottery Association.

The winning number combination drawn at 10:59 p.m. were 05-10-21-34-58, but no one got those numbers. With the prospect of winning US$380 million, queues were seen at Powerball outlets, such as the one at the Shell gas station in a Cleveland suburb, to beat the 10 p.m. deadline to buy the winning ticket, according to USA Today.

To win, the ticket holder must have the five numbers drawn on white balls and a red Powerball. Those who get the five numbers but don't match the red Powerball still win US$1 million.

This is the first time that the Powerball lottery, known for its eye-popping jackpots, along with the Mega Millions, offers prize money higher than US$300 million due to recent slump in sales. A ticket costs US$2, reports AP.

In February 2014, Powerball's jackpot hit US$425 million.

The Multi-State Lottery Association estimates the odds or winning Powerball are over 1 in 175 million, while to win US$1 million, the odds are more than 1 in 5 million.

Except for Alabama, Alaska, Hawaii, Nevada and Utah, Powerball is available in 44 states, including the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
