Bek David Campbell, best known by the stage name Beck Hansen, garnered several awards at the Grammys including Album of The Year and Best Rock Album last Sunday.

For Beck, he didn't expect to win at all. When rapper Kanye West suddenly went onstage to interrupt Beck and jokingly steal the Grammy award at the same time, the singer was very much surprised, E! online reports.

"I was so excited he was coming up! He deserves to be on that stage," said the 44 year old singer.  Though Kanye had high hopes on Beyonce to garner all the Grammy Awards, Beck also felt the same way as well.

"Absolutely I thought she was going to win. Come on! She's Beyonce," Beck said in an interview during the Universal Music Group's Post Grammy Party.

After Beck's name was announced as the winner of the Album of the Year, West went on stage to say that Beck should've given his award to Beyonce.

Most thought the Grammy Award scene caused by the rapper may be some sort of prank, however West meant it on a serious note.

The "Only One" singer continued this tirade at the E! After Party, emphasizing that Beck needs to respect artistry.

"I don't know what he said. All I know is if the Grammys want real artists to keep coming back, they need to stop playing with us. We ain't gonna play with them no more. He should've given his award to Beyonce and at this point, we're tired of it," says West.

"Because what happens is, when you keep on diminishing art and not respecting the craft and smacking people in the face after they deliver monumental feats of music, you're disrespectful to inspiration and we as musicians have to inspire people who go to work every day and they listen to that Beyonce album and they feel like it takes them to another place," the "Love Lockdown" singer further added.

"Then they do this whole promotional event, they'll run the music over somebody's speech, the artist, because they want commercial advertising. Like, no, we are not playing with them no more. By the way, I got my wife,my daughter and my clothing line, so I'm not going to do nothing to put my daughter at risk, but I am here to fight for creativity. That's the reason why I didn't say anything tonight. But you all know what it meant when 'Ye walks on stage," West finally concluded.

But for the "Waking Light" singer Beck, there were no feelings of retaliation nor was he offended.

"You can't please everybody. I still love him and I think he's still genius.  I aspire to do what he does. How many great records has he put out in the last five years right?," says Beck, in an interview with People Magazine.

Though Beck received 16 nominations in last Sunday's Grammy Awards, West has won Grammy Awards since 2005.

West and Beyonce's Grammy Nominations total to 53. West's last appearance at the Grammy Awards Night was six years ago, when he also made a scene when singer Taylor Swift received her Grammy Award.
