For the first time since Season 11, Fox has decided to bring back on the judging table all three judges of “American Idol” for two consecutive seasons. Harry Connick Jr., Jennifer Lopez, and Keith Urban are all coming back on Season 14 and they all will be joining Ryan Seacrest to keep the singing competition alive.

What have the three judges done right to be on the same panel once again?

The senior executive vice president of 21st Century Fox, David Hill, made the recent announcement, highlighting the top reasons why all three judges should be retained for the next season.

“Jennifer, Keith, Harry, and Ryan are the very best in the business at what they do, and I’m thrilled that they are returning to American Idol for another season,” David Hill said, according to Entertainment Weekly.

For the first time since Season 11, the judges are friendly to one another. Gone are the episodes with bickering among the judges like what usually goes between Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

It will be recalled that the two singers would get into each other’s nerves in front of the millions of AI audience and the show’s contenders.

But what changed in Season 13?

Hill added, “Each brings unique qualities and expertise to the team, but they all share the same passion for helping undiscovered singers achieve the American dream.”

‘American Idol’ has played a big part in the success of many top artists in the music industry today. The popular singing competition has created big names in the industry including, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, David Cook, Philip Phillips, among others.

Records show that Clarkson (Season 1) has the highest-selling album sales around the world, with an estimated 25 million copies. But it looks like Season 4 winner, Carrie Underwood has outranked Clarkson in the United States as she holds the record for the highest-selling album sales in the U.S. with 13 million copies.

AI has been under fire in the last few seasons for its failure to enjoin audience to tune in week after week during the competition. It has recorded its all-time lowest rating in Season 12 with Carey and Minaj as among the judges to complete the show.

But it is also no secret “American Idol” has kept its rigor and popularity despite the ratings and its winners are known to contribute in the music industry.

Audition has already begun in Minneapolis, Minnesotta on June 18, 2014. The judges have also been to New Orleans, Louisiana (June 25) and they are set to see AI hopefuls in Long Island New York (July 23), Nashville, Tennessee (July 30) and San Francisco, California (September 29).

“American Idol” Season 14 returns on Fox in January 2015.
