Continuing its journey toward clean ranks, the Communist Party of China ousted a former aide to China's retired domestic security tzar for taking "huge bribes" and committing adultery.

On Wednesday, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) stated that former Haikou City mayor Ji Wenlin "took advantage of his position to seek benefit for others, solicited and obtained huge bribes and engaged in adultery".

The Communist Party began its investigation into Ji's alleged involvement in "serious breaches of party discipline and the law" in February, when several other allies of Zhou Yongkang's allies were also sacked and put under investigation.

Reuters' sources report that Zhou is under virtual house arrest while several of his allies have already been kept in custody and are under investigation for possible corruption.

According to his official resume, Ji worked with Zhou during the 90's when the latter was minister for land resources and later worked under him when the retired security tzar became the party boss of Sichuan Province.

Zhou was a supporter of former top politician Bo Xilai who was found guilty of corruption and abuse of power and sentenced to spend a lifetime in prison in the biggest political scandal in ten years.

The recent expulsions mark the beginning of President Xi Jinping's vow to take down high-flying "tigers" and lowly "flies" in his administration's campaign against graft.
