Here's great news for Android users. It turns out that Google's Android 5.0 Lollipop won't crash as much and is the more stable platform compared to its fierce rival, the Apple iOS 8.

Tech monitoring company Crittercism said in a new report that Android 5.0 Lollipop reduced its crash rate to only two percent, palpably lower than Apple's iOS current crash rate of 2.2 percent. It also noted iOS 8 also had a higher crash rate compared to iOS7, with a crash rate of 1.9 percent.

Previous versions of Android like Android 4.4 KitKat and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich had a 2.6 percent crash rate. Slicing the crash rate down to 2.0 percent is an impressive feat, said tech pundits.

Unfortunately, Apple has gone to the opposite end. Crittercism reported the iOS 7 has a crash rate of 1.9 percent while iOS 8 has a 2.2 percent crash rate. This piece of bad news means Apple's OS has become more unstable.

Data from Crittercism, shows iOS has generally been more unstable than Android since 2012.

Apple's iOS 8 is installed on 72 percent of all existing iOS devices. The OS also runs on the older iPhone 4S and iPad 2. These two devices have performance issues that might cause apps to crash.

On the other hand, Android Lollipop is used on only 1.6 percent of all Android devices.
