The summit, which is set to run for three days, will focus on domestic and international efforts to prevent the extremists and their supporters from growing in number and recruiting more members. It will also feature people who would share the best practices and strategies which would prevent extremists from successfully carrying out their violent acts, USA Today reported.

According to White House officials on Tuesday, the summit will open with a meeting between Vice President Joe Biden and the representatives from Boston, Los Angeles and Minneapolis who will present their programs for countering extremism. These proposed programs might be pushed forward to the rest of the country, the report stated.

United States President Barack Obama is set to address a meeting at the White House on Wednesday as U.S. cities will be talking about how to deal with extremism. On Thursday, Obama will also speak before an audience at the State Department where representatives of around 60 countries are set to meet, including those from Jordan, the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

Also in the summit will be representatives from social media companies, non-governmental organizations and private sectors. They will also be given the chance to impart their own strategies in countering terrorism and extremism, according to the report.
