Microsoft has announced its endorsement of asm.js technology.

Microsoft has announced its endorsement of asm.js technology developed by Mozilla for the Firefox browser. This particular JavaScript software enables the browser to improve the speed of graphic intensive web applications like games.

Mozilla doesn't mind sharing the asm.js software with Microsoft since it seeks to encourage more programs to run it on the web. On the other hand, Microsoft is trying to recruit more people to write programs for Windows.

On Feb. 18, the Windows giant said it integrated the asm.js technology in Chakra, which is the key element on both IE and Spartan browsers. Chakra is also the engine that runs JavaScript programs. Meanwhile, Spartan is the new browser for Windows 10.

Internet Explorer or IE was the dominant browser until Firefox came along. IE was no match for Firefox's speed and ability to integrate newly developed web technologies. This is probably the reason why Microsoft decided to launch a new browser -- Spartan for Windows 10.

Aside from acquiring new and upcoming web service companies, Microsoft is beginning to adopt the latest internet standards and has been very vocal on which standards it supports.

The partnership with Mozilla is clearly evident when Mozilla developer Christian Heilmann announced last January he was moving to Microsoft. Heilmann was a known critic of the IE browser.

He said Microsoft was the "bane of his existence" during the first browser wars, in which Internet Explorer emerged victorious over the Netscape browser.

Mozilla has expressed its excitement that one of its rival browsers has joined forces with them in adopting the asm.js code. Meanwhile, the Chakra team is praising asm.js for greatly improving web program performance. They added this is the reason they're integrating asm.js in their next release.
