Epileptic Dad Kills Baby Daughter after Losing Temper While Playing PS3

Twenty-eight-year-old Mark Sandland pleads guilty of manslaughter for killing his baby daughter when he got frustrated by her screaming while he was playing the popular PlayStation 3 game the Assassin's Creed.

Investigation reveals that Sandland was playing the violent game and was frustrated by the distraction of Aimee-Rose's screaming that he picked her up, gripped her around her torso and shook her, Prosecutor Sally Howes told Mirror.

Unaware of what would occur, Aimee-Rose's mom was attending her first class in the University of Brighton's Hastings campus during that day. Around lunchtime, she sent a text message to Sandland asking about Aimee-Rose which he responded to with: "She hasn't shut up since about half an hour after you left."

Five-month-old Aimee-Rose was hospitalized in the Conquest Hospital in St. Leonards in November 5, 2012 for a broken collar bone, brain damage and extensive bruising in her face, chest, abdomen and lower limbs, injuries that were consistent with shaking. She was then transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit at King's College Hospital in London but died after four days.

Looking 'panicked and anxious', Sandland told a member of the ambulance staff that he suffered an epileptic seizure and came around to find his daughter gravely injured and unconscious underneath him.

He also confirmed in court that the television was switched on before the accident. However, when investigators arrived at the scene, it was turned off while a PlayStation game controller was found on the sofa facing the TV.

He was charged with murder; however, Sandland pleaded guilty for manslaughter instead due to lack of intent and will be sentenced at the Hove Crown Court on Wednesday.
