Worldwide, the animated fairy tale has been dubbed as the biggest animated movie of all time reaching over US$1.2 billion in gross sales.

Meanwhile, 'Maleficent' launched to more than $7 million initial sales kicking the animated film out of Japanese box office number one spot starring Hollywood renowned actress Angeline Jolie playing the heroine-villain in the movie.

Now running on its fifth week, the live action tale is expected to reach $630 million on Wednesday in the global box office becoming the fourth movie this year to reach the 600-million-dollar barrier.

Released in both 2D and 3D, the fairy tale about what true love is runs around the story of 'Sleeping Beauty' given twists that have Disney fans asking for more.

"It's all about the very question of what love is. And even if you don't have children, you still have parents, so you know that this kind of love is the truest form," Jolie explains, regarding why the story had that particular twist.

Both movies portray a message about women empowerment that has so far been embraced by Disney's audience all over the world.
