Apple TV has updated its movie catalog with inclusion of movie extras.

Apple TV has hundreds of films in its catalog that have movie extras that automatically appear in users' libraries. Apple TV included "Frozen" and "The Avengers" in their list with extras.

Before, the users could only have a copy of extras via a time-consuming download. The users should buy the film through iTunes or Apple TV so they would be able to download the movie extras.

There were available movie preview on iTunes before buying the film.

New iTunes Extras available today include behind the scenes clips from "Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2" and "The Lego Movie." Apple TV's extras come with alternative and deleted scenes. The users can also view short films, cast and crew information, photo galleries, and other bonus information given by the movie studios.

Some movie extras may have included on DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and other digital versions of the movie.

Movie production studios are a big help for Apple in delivering more dynamic ways to watch bonus scenes of a particular movie. The movies extras will be bases on themes, and categories rather than sequentially.

An example would be the American Hustle Apple TV version that lets the users watch scenes based on the popular songs of the movie soundtrack.

Jason Spivak, executive vice president of worldwide digital distribution at Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, said that the update increases the value to consumers who collect films digitally.

"It's about being able to bring more to the experience than just the film itself," he added.
