Jeremy Sisto Speaks Up About Losing “Titanic” Role to Leonardo DiCaprio

Leonardo DiCaprio's career skyrocketed when he played the lead role, alongside Kate Winslet in James Cameron's "Titanic", however, that almost did not happen.

Jeremy Sisto, who is best known for his role as Elton in "Clueless" and Billy Chenowith in "Six Feet Under," dropped by HuffPost Live to talk about his role in the new series "The Returned" and revealed how he was saddened by losing out to Leo on Titanic, which is one of the most successful movies of all time.

Referring to the character Jack Dawson, Jeremy laughingly said, "That was one of the many, many jobs I didn't get."

When Kate was doing some screen tests for her part as Rose DeWitt Bukater, he revealed that it was him instead of Leo who played her love interest.

He shared that it's fun to let people know that the movie they love and know has an "alternate universe person." Adding that while he's a bit embarrassed to share one of his greatest failures in life, he feels like he could not deprive "Titanic" fans of knowing the possible alternate universe.

Jeremy table read with other actresses who were also competing to land the role of Rose. And while Jeremy is fond of the memory, the 40-year old actor confessed that he missed his opportunity to portray Jack.

"It was a pretty great experience," he said, and continued to praise James Cameron saying that anything the award-winning director does, "has this huge scope to it. So I was just insanely inspired by it and a little heartbroken when the role didn't come my way."
