OWLS Media has sued “Baywatch” star, David Hasselhoff for a breach of contract over a documentary about Berlin Wall.

The plaintiff claimed that Hasselhoff, 61 has broken his promise not to film a related project only to find out that the actor had worked on a Berlin Wall documentary with the National Geographic Society.

The company had sought the services of the actor for his popularity in Germany. MSN Entertainment also noted that OWLS Media put its confidence on the actor for his song “Looking for Freedom,” which has eventually been considered a “anthem” of the wall.

“[Hasselhoff] is a renowned musical artist and is particularly well-known . . . for his connection to the historic events related to the fall of the Berlin Wall,” a document obtained by RadarOnline was cited by MSN Entertainment.

The film by OWLS Media featured Hasselhoff for some narration and interviews. The complainant asserted that despite his promise for an exclusive contract on Berlin Wall project, the actor was later determined to participate in another by Nat Geo, ''superseding documentary almost identical in theme, scope and focus to the [OWLS Media's] documentary.''

The Plaintiffs project has apparently been “crushed” when a similar project is produced. Set to air this autumn, the film by the National Geographic Society has made affected OWLS Media’s own film and its “economic well-being,” thereby forcing the latter to sue for punitive damages.

A separate report by The Hollywood Reporter indicated that Hasselhoff agreed to be paid an amount of $25,000 USD upfront and an additional 15-percent of the profit of the documentary.

The actor’s manager, Eric Gardner issued a statement published by THR expressing willingness to continue working with OWLS in the promotion of the project.

"I completed my work in May on Mark and Gabi Hayes' Looking For Freedom project and have been looking forward to its release," Hasselhoff said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Their lawsuit was totally unexpected. I remain enthusiastic about the project and stand ready, willing and able to participate in all marketing, promotion and social media efforts."
