A few days ago, NVidia launched the Geforce GTX 960M and the 950M GPU chips. They joined the rest of the GTX 900M series released earlier.

Unlike other GTX chips such as the GTX 970M GPU or the GTX 980M, the 960M and 950M are intended for the thin and light notebooks.

These newly released chips will bring gaming quality graphics to notebooks and laptops less than an inch thick. NVidia claims the new GPUs will bring, "never before seen levels of gaming quality."

NVidia just released the specs for both GPUs. The GeForce GTX 960M features the 640 CUDA Core with a base clock running at 1096 MHz, which includes a boost. The 960M carries the GDDR5 running at 2,500 MHz on a 128 bit bus and its bandwidth runs at 80 GB per second.

The GTX 950M shares similar specs except its base clockspeed is at 914 MHz. The memory interface is either a DDR3 or GDDR5 with a memory clock running at 1,000 or 2,500 MHz on 128 bit bus and the memory bandwidth runs at either 32 or 80 GB per second.

Both the GTX 960M and the 950M feature the ShadowPlay, Optimus and the Microsoft DirectX12.

ShadowPlay lets you record your games so you can share it on social media like YouTube or Twitch. Optimus is a feature that optimizes the graphics or battery life of your laptop or notebook.

Additional features include Battery Boost and the GPU chip is also GameStream ready.

The two new GPU chips have VGA analog, DisplayPort Multimode and HDMI support.  Both the 960M and 950M have been certified for the Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 Operating System.

Most major laptop and notebook companies including Alienware, Asus, Acer, Clevo Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, Razer and others are now currently shipping NVidia's new GPU.
