The Australian rapper, Iggy Azalea, who broke thru the international hit wall this year with the song "Fancy" takes the lead in nominations at the MTV Video Music Award show 2014 together with pop and hip hop celebrities Beyonce and Eminem.

24 year old Azalea with the birth name Amethyst Amelia Kelly is originally from South Wales in Australia, but at the age of 16 she moved to the U.S. to pursue a career as a hip hop singer. After several years with ups and downs, Azalea finally released her debut album "The New Classic" in April 2014, who made it in top five of several charts all over the world.

From the debut album she released the single "Fancy" featuring Charli XCX that put her on top of U.S. Billboard Hot 100 as one of only four female rappers, who ever made it to the top of the billboard.

First on the nomination high score is R&B singer Beyonce with eight nominations closely followed by hip hop singer Eminem and Azalea - both with seven nominations.

The 2014 MTV Video Music Award show will go on air at August 24 followed by millions of viewers all over the world. The nominees battle to get their share of the "Moonman" statuettes of an astronaut planting a MTV flag on the Moon.

The first award show was launched by MTV in 1984, and has played a significant role of the worldwide success the music channel has achieved. At this year's show R&B singer Usher and Australian rock group "5 Seconds of Summer" will give live performance.

Last year singer Miley Cyrus made the headlines after the show - not so much because of her singing performance. More because of her explicit dance that almost overshadowed the award show itself in the media afterwards.
