Nvidia officially launched another member of its GeForce family early this week -- the GeForce GTX Titan X -- which it brags is "the most powerful graphics card the whole world has ever seen."

The details about GeForce GTX Titan X were announced March 17 by Nvidia CEO Jen-Hsun Huang who was a special guest ay the recently concluded GDC. Trusted Reviews said the Titan X it will be available this May.

Reports said Nvidia isn't holding back with the GeForce GTX Titan X, promising the $999 card is the fastest, most-advanced GPU money can buy.

GeForce GTX Titan X boasts of features including a 1,000MHz core clock; 1,753 MHz 12 GB GDDR5 memory; 8 billion transistors; 3,072 stream processors; Requires 1 x 6-pin and 1 x 8-pin power connectors.

The Titan X also uses the 28 nm Maxwell architecture found inside the Nvidia's GTX 900-series cards, but it's far more powerful than any previous card. For starters, the chip itself is 551 mm2 in size -- far larger than the 398 mm2 of the GTX 980 and bigger than any current AMD rival.

The so-called monster graphic card contains 8,000,000,000 transistors. Again, that's more than anyone else can offer and is almost two billion more than AMD's top GPU, the Radeon R9 290X, and almost 3,000,000,000 ahead of Nvidia's current flagship.

VR reported GeForce GTX Titan X is billed more as a luxury gaming video card than an entry-level computer card like the Kepler-based GTX Titan and GTX Titan Black.

For that reason, its pricing at $999 may turn out to be the only sore point given that cards like the GTX 980 in SLI can outperform the Titan X.
