Microsoft recently launched its cheapest Lumia yet -- the Lumia 430.

The Windows smartphone has a retail price of US$70. The new Lumia ousted its fellow Lumia 435, which has a retail price of US$81.  It's not an iPhone 6 and it doesn't have the price of one.

The smartphone has a 4 inch wide WVGA display; an internal storage of 8 GB; a gigabyte of RAM while a microSD slot is also included. The Lumia 430 has a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor which runs a 1.2 GHz. This small smartphone is also powered by a 1500 mAh battery.

The Lumia 430 has a 2 MP rear camera while its front camera is a .3 MP VGA.  It's not the best smartphone camera but it's one of the cheapest around.

Microsoft announced the Lumia 430 may be released in April in countries and regions such as APAC, Belarus, IMEA, Kazakhstan and Russia.

Microsoft will also include an assortment of goodies. First, the Lumia 430 is preloaded with Skype, OneDrive storage of 30 GB and Office.

The cheapest Windows smartphone will have the Windows 8.1 (Denim version) as its O.S.  Fortunately, Microsoft said the Lumia 430 can be upgraded to its upcoming Windows 10.

Those who would rather have the high-end Windows smartphone models instead will have to wait for a while though. Microsoft earlier issued a statement to the effect it will first launch its upcoming Windows 10 OS before releasing its flagship smartphone.

The latest OS is scheduled for launch this summer. Windows 10 will most likely be released on desktops and laptops before being release on smartphones.

This means a flagship Windows 10 smartphone will probably be launched in the latter half of the year.
