The Royals, E! Entertainment's first scripted series, is already receiving mixed reviews since its first episode aired. The series depicts a British Royal family's normal life, which is beyond what people usually see in the real life British Royal family.

The Royals received criticism because of its deviation from the real Royal family.

The stellar cast, which includes Elizabeth Hurley and Chronicles of Narnia star William Moseley, speak out in defense of the series, according to BBC UK.

The show is currently being called by some critics as "loveable trash".

"Americans, traditionally are quite enamoured with our real royal family, they think they're the bees. I do too as it happens. So I knew there'd be a lot of interest in the show and in fact they have responded very well to our scurrilous, fake royal family," said Elizabeth Hurley, who plays Queen Helena in the series.

"I'm thrilled that they like it and I'm really hoping that English people will get into the spirit and enjoy it too and just imagine what it could be like behind the closed doors of the palace," she further added.

Some critics panned it as questionable, citing the discrepancies that the Queen should also have sovereign over countries such as Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

However, most of the cast are quick to point out none of these characters were even based by the real life Royals.

"This is the first time royal life has been depicted like this. I think there's been a few skeptical faces out there, but I think if they watch the first five minutes of the show, they'll see how much fun and joy is brought to the screen," said William Moseley, who plays Prince Liam in the series.

"I think they think we're trying to depict the royal family but we're really not. This is our fantasy of royal life, that we all hope royal life to be. So its kind of like, through the key hole kind of feel. It's no imitation to the royal family at all," he further added.

Prince is already considered as a counterpart to the real life British Royal Prince Harry.

Moseley emphasized if people want to draw comparison of the real life Royals to the fictional ones, then it is entirely up to them.
