Nokia's high end phone, Lumia, will be flagship of Microsoft as they are acquiring Nokia.

The company is contemplating whether to abolish Nokia X phones or not to give way to the new strategy. The strategy states: “It's all Lumia, all the time.”

Nokia X used to be on a competition against the popular Android phones which leave out any trace of Google services by replacing Microsoft/Nokia counterparts like OneDrive.

Lumia has been the high-end phone representation of Nokia and it runs under Microsoft's Window Phone operating system. The low-end phones are the Nokia Asha models and other feature phones which will be heading to markets - like India and China - where almost everyone are not smartphone owners.

Android phones are the powerful competitor of Windows Phone in electronic markets like India and China. These android phones offer very low-cost models with easy access to a lot of apps that Windows Phone didn't have.

Nokia and Microsoft aim to gain a new generation of Lumia fans by offering them a cheap Windows phone that runs Android apps. If the users want to upgrade their phones, they would just switch to Lumia.

Microsoft said they will not totally abandon Nokia X and Nokia Asha, instead they want to offer Windows Phone in cheaper models. The cheapest Nokia Lumia (520) costs US$100 or even lower.

Windows Phones has a strong market in many developing countries, particularly in Latin America. According to Gartner, information technology research and advisory firm, by 2018, Windows Phones can reach market share as high as ten percent.
