Fox Renews "New Girl" for its Fifth Season

The American sitcom "New Girl" is one of Fox network's more popular shows, so it comes as no surprise when news about the show getting renewed for its fifth season broke.

The network had just recently handed the execs managing New Girl a fifth-season renewal, joining another comedy television series, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which has been guaranteed to come back for the 2015-2016 TV season.

David Madden, Fox Broadcasting Company entertainment president talked about the renewal and said that after four seasons, New Girl is still one of the most relatable and smartest comedy series on television. He continued to praise the script, describing it as "razor-sharp," as well as the whole cast whom he said is "consistently hilarious."

He expressed how proud he is of the creator and composers of the show, Elizabeth Meriwether, Dave Finkel and Brett Baer and the entire New Girl team who made the show possible.

"We absolutely love this show and we're so excited to bring it back for season five," he concluded.

The hit show starring Zooey Deschanel, Max Greenfield, Jake Johnson, Hannah Simone, Lamorne Morris and Damon Wayans Jr., which garnered 4.4 million viewers this season alone and averages a rating of 2.3 among viewers 18-49, will reach its celebrated 100th episode on season five.

Despite New Girl's rating, which many think of as modest, the show's renewal was kind of already expected given that it is near its episode-count milestone.

Other shows also renewed by Fox includes Sleepy Hollow, Gotham and Empire.
